2.1 Mindfulness

I began mindfulness during a very turbulent time of depression. Mindfulness is basically meditation. I used to meditate on specific affirmations but eventually gained enough confidence to simply observe my thoughts. Any one with Bipolar knows that their brain at times can lean to racing thoughts. A symptom where the brain just won't let up and produce thoughts like a ready to print newspaper factory. Obviously, medication can assist, but i found that mindfulness has produced great results for racing thoughts.

I would not use it aside from medication, rather in conjunction.

Mindfulness has been essential in my recovery. At the very least it gives us an insight into who we are and what our thoughts are doing. I started with 5 minute meditations and eventually got into 30min - 60min sessions. For people who are time poor, to stop and reflect with a 5 - 10min session can enhance the work day by reducing stress levels.
